Cherry Carpet and Flooring located in Portsmouth, VA is currently seeking a Residential Carpet Installer to join its team.  Qualified candidates also interested in working as Residential Carpet Installer sub-contractors will also be considered.  Residential Carpet Installers are responsible for field management and completion of flooring projects with a focus on safety, professionalism and efficiency while ensuring high quality installation and customer satisfaction.

The qualifications for a Residential Carpet Installer are as follows:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a helper/installer and be proficient in residential carpet installation.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • The physical ability to regularly lift objects weighing 65-75 lbs.
  • The flexibility of schedule to allow availability outside regular business hours as needed.
  • Read and understand blueprints/plans for flooring projects.
  • Must be able to obtain a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Badge.

The responsibilities of a Flooring Installer include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage and adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Installation of residential flooring according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Clean and prepare sub-floor to receive flooring according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Deliver and stage materials on jobsite.
  • Demolition of existing flooring.
  • Supervise and train helpers and additional installers on flooring projects.
  • Walk jobs with homeowner/contractor upon completion and address any concerns.
  • Clean jobsite daily before leaving.
  • Provide daily written reports detailing production, manpower, jobsite conditions and materials usage/needs.
  • Manage flooring helper timesheets.
  • Utilize smart phone for office communication and project documentation.
  • Wear required uniform and safety equipment.
  • Be punctual arriving at work and to jobsites.
  • Be responsible for checking out and maintaining company tools and equipment.
  • Assist warehouse personnel when loading and unloading vehicles and check loaded materials to verify accuracy.
  • Complete return forms when items are returned to the warehouse
